Here is Marisa Punshon's story, in her own words about her entire experience in getting her new Headshots and Business Portraits. "Unless you’re a supermodel or a proud four year old holding a finger painting, I’m betting that not many people enjoy having their photograph taken.
Therefore you can imagine how non-receptive I was to a suggestion from a business coach that I include some photos of myself on my website, business cards and other marketing material. My brain could understand the common sense of it – being identified as the ‘face’ of your business is essential and adds to the recognition factor. But my gut reaction was another thing entirely: no way, you must be joking, it just ‘aint going to happen.
Then, like all good stories, I met Kon at a conference. Kon is the brains and talent behind Ikon Images. As a professional photographer, he’s use to working with fearful businessmen and women who have too many stories to share of bad pictures, unflattering profile shots and results too frightening for anything other than the delete key.
Nervous clients are his specialty and he managed to ease this by organising for my hair and make up to be done soon after I arrived at his studio. Kon has a patient, professional style that soon took away my fear of being photographed. He never once rushed me or made me choose a pose or style that I wasn’t comfortable with. Instead, I actually laughed and – get this – found myself thoroughly enjoying the entire process. Somehow, several hours rolled by as he took the photos. Kon mixed up the session to include a varied range of professional shots amid more casual pictures.
When it was time to select the photos I wanted, I was honestly astounded – was this really me? Whilst air brushing is a service he offers, Kon suggested that my pictures should remain as genuine as possible to reflect who I really am. But hang on, even super models get the magic editing treatment, don’t they?
Turns out he was right. The pictures Kon produced were terrific and portray me as I really am – a business owner with experience, maturity and enthusiasm for what I do. Kon’s photos mean that I no longer have a tiny freak out when asked to ‘email us a photo of yourself.’
To be able to have some ‘go to’ pictures for marketing materials, Facebook, Skype, LinkedIn, and websites is a huge advantage. It adds to a more professional image, a recognisable business profile and shows confidence in the skills I have to offer. Kon was able to do that for me."
